Since the 70's Luc Schuiten is one of the first architects in Europe to imagine and build an energy-independent house, thanks to sun and wind: Orejona house. It is still a significant realization paving the way for the ecological consciousness issued from the "underground" movement.

Through his innovating houses this architect is considered as typical of the new artistic creative movement in Belgium. Giving evidence for this is the application form introduced in Brussels by the "Archives d'Architecture Moderne", to integrate his original drawings and archives in the collection of the museum.
